The introduction to the normal anatomy of the placenta, including the electron-optical findings, was gratefully taken over by Professor Dr. F. Strauss from the Institute of Anatomy in Bern. He has been dealing with this problem for decades. The processing of the pathological anatomy of the placenta is in the hands of Professor Dr. K. Benirschke and Dr. S. Driscoll. Professor Benirschke first worked under the direction of Professor Dr. A. Hertig at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass.
