Der in der Vorbemerkung zum Teilband XVIII 1 (dort S. 7) ausgesprochene Hinweis des Herausgebers auf die Ursachen fur die mangelnde Abstimmung der einzelnen Beitrage aufeinander muss hier wiederholt werden. Zwischen dem Ein- gang der einzelnen Beitrage lagen ungewohnlich lange Zeitspannen. Die Ver- spatungen ergaben sich teilweise aus Ursachen, die in der Natur der Sache liegen, andererseits aber auch aus langeren Erkrankungen einzelner Mitarbeiter. Um das Erscheinen des Bandes nicht allzu sehr zu verzogern, durfte der Druck der zuerst eingegangenen Beitrage nicht bis zum Eintreffen des letzten Manu- skriptes zuruckgestellt werden. So konnten die Uberschneidungen, Uneinheit- lichkeiten in der Terminologie und in der Form der Darstellung nicht befriedigend vermieden werden. Der Herausgeber will mit dieser Vorbemerkung nicht Kritikern vorgreifen, sondern nur um Verstandnis und mildernde Umstande bitten. Zugleich mochte der Herausgeber den Mitarbeitern an diesem und dem vorhergegangenen Teil- band ebenso wie dem Verlag fur alle Muhen und alle Geduld sowie alles Ver- standnis fur die oben angedeuteten Schwierigkeiten aufrichtig danken.
