Mit Einfuhrung und Weiterentwicklung der Lympho- graphie als diagnostische Spezialmethode der medizini- schen Radiologie sind die Voraussetzungen fur die Erkennung topographischer, normal-anatomischer und pathologisch-morphologischer Befunde des Lymphsy- stems im lebenden Organismus des Menschen geschaf- fen worden. Zunachst konnen nur soIche Abschnitte des Lymphsystems erfaBt werden, die nach dem gegenwarti- gen Entwicklungsstand der Methode der direkten Lym- phographie zuganglich sind, doch werden durch phar- mazeutische und klinische Forschung Verbesserungen und Erweiterungen der direkten und indirekten Lym- phographie angestrebt. Fur den Nachweis von Metasta- sen muB sich der Einsatz dieser radiologischen Spezial- diagnostik gegenwartig auf soIche Tumoren beschran- ken, deren regionale Tochtergeschwiilste im Lymphsy- stem erreichbar sind. Das Anliegen dieses von meinem Mitarbeiter Dr. K. -H. Gunter Muller zusammengestell- ten Leitfadens der Lymphographie ist es, die Methodik, den Informationswert und die differentialdiagnosti- schen Grenzen des U ntersuchungsverfahrens kurz und ubersichtlich darzulegen. Die Zusammenstellung stutzt sich auf etwa 3000 Lymphographien, Kontrollen und Verlaufsbeobachtungen bei den verschiedenartigsten Erkrankungen des Lymphsystems sowie auf die Erfah- rungen, die unser Arbeitskreis und insbesondere Herr Dr. K. -H. Gunter Millier - in enger Zusammenarbeit mit allen Fachkliniken unseres Hauses und zahlreichen Krankenhausern im mittleren Neckarraum - bei kriti- schem Vergleich der radiologischen und histopathologi- schen Befunde sammeln konnte. Diese fUr die klinische Onkologie besonders wichtige Untersuchungsmethode in der Diagnostik von Sy- stemerkrankungen und Metastasen des Lymphsystems so lIte jedem Arzt bekannt sein.
