Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy by K Kochsiek
Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (h. o. K.), first described in 1907 on the basis of two autopsy protocols by SCHMINCKE as diffuse hyperplasia of the left en ventricle, especially in the area of the excursion tract, supplemented in 1910 by BERNHEIM with a few other cases, was forgotten until 1952, when DAVIES liber reported a family with several deaths. But it was not until 1957 that Sir Russel Brock gave the first detailed description of the clinical picture. Since then, an extensive body of literature on this concept of disease has arisen under widely changing names, and a number of several hundred relevant cases have been reported. In the present monograph, this number is increased to 47 patients who were identified according to the latest cardiology examination methods and who were observed and treated clinically and on an outpatient basis for a longer period of time. This critical study is documented by instructive figures and tables in each direction. The h. o. K. was found in a constant average of about 2% of all cardiac catheterizations for years. The h: rank image is extremely variable. There are certain congenital cases that only occur later in life. The genesis is unclear. Long-term observations indicate a progression and improvement in life expectancy, which is reason enough to deal with this condition in detail. The term idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis covers only one, albeit important, sub-aspect. Accurate diagnostics require special cardiological methods. The clinical picture with dyspnea, palpitations, dizziness, syncope and angina pectoris is ambiguous. From simple cardiac hypertrophy, the h. o. K.| ISBN 13 | 9783642652288 |
