This is the most comprehensive volume of the advanced training series Operative Medicine for Nurses, Nurses, Medical Students and Gynaecological Surgeons. Due to increasing fragmentation into individual specialties, general surgery is now largely limited to surgery of the neck, external chest, abdominal wall and abdominal cavity. This development has been taken into account here, in order to avoid significant overlaps with the other volumes in the series: Thorax, Heart, Gefa13, Accident, Neurosurgery and Urology and Burn Injuries. After an introductory chapter on behavior in the operating room, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of the instruments, the general surgical operations are divided according to anatomical aspects from cranial to caudal. In the individual chapters, after introductory remarks, the indication for the operation and the aim of the operation are briefly described. The focus of the work is on the operational sector of interest to nurses and nurses. First, positioning, sterile draping, position of the surgeons and possible surgical approaches are shown for each operation. The individual steps in the course of the operation are explained using instructive line drawings. A brief description of the possible complications precedes the detailed presentation of the operating tables, whereby the basic tables and the supplementary material are shown separately. This systematic structure makes it easier to familiarize yourself with each individual surgical procedure and provides quick and clear information.
