Dieses Buch bietet eine praxisorientierte Übersicht zu den häufigsten benignen und malignen Erkrankungen der Vulva, denen Ärztinnen und Ärzte in der gynäkologischen Sprechstunde begegnen. Diagnostik und Therapie werden auf neuestem Stand dargestellt. Dabei ist interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit gefordert und so haben hier Autorinnen und Autoren aus Gynäkologie, Dermatologie, Pathologie, Radioonkologie, Palliativmedizin und Pflege jeweils ihren Beitrag geleistet, um den unterschiedlichen Facetten der Vulvaerkrankungen möglichst optimal Rechnung zu tragen.

"Das neu erschienene Buch wurde von Autoren verfasst, die sich selbst intensiv mit der Vulva beschäftigen, was man schnell an der sogar liebevollen und detaillierten Bearbeitung der Artikel erkennen kann. Es wurde aber auch Wert darauf gelegt, dass der Leser nicht überfordert wird, weswegen kurze und prägnante Texte mit zahlreichen anschaulichen Abbildungen kombiniert wurden. Es ist vermutlich derzeit das einzige aktuelle deutschsprachige Buch zur Vulva und enthält erfreulicherweise auch umfangreiche Erläuterungen zu den Präkanzerosen und den Malignomen der Vulva, inklusive der für viele noch neuen Sichtweise der Kompartimente-Theorie. Ebenfalls bemerkenswert ist, dass ein Kapitel über pflegerische Aspekte zugefügt wurde, ein essentieller Bestandteil in Ergänzung zur ärztlichen Herangehensweise. Das Buch ist für Assistenz- und Fachärzte gleichermassen empfehlenswert, wenn nicht sogar dringend anzuraten, zumal die Vulva das am meisten vernachlässigte Organ in der Frauenheilkunde ist. Es ist daher als Nachschlagewerk aber auch als angenehm und kurzweilig zu lesendes Lehrbuch geeignet. Natürlich ersetzt es in der individuellen Therapie nie die Recherche nach aktuellen Publikationen, aber es kann uneingeschränkt als Grundlage dafür heran gezogen werden."
