EEG Atlas for Anesthesiologists by P Lehmkuhl
The present atlas contains a collection of spectral analysis EEG images and corresponding excerpts of the conventional EEG under thesiological measures. It is a selection from a series of EEG recordings that have been carried out during routine sthesiologic measures on a general surgical-gynecological patient within the last few years. Premedications, anesthesia inductions, processes and drains as well as the recovery phase and intensive care procedures are covered. Technical handling and artefact-related disruptive factors for EEG discharges in routine operation are briefly presented. In the individual sections with a special topic, characteristic EEG findings are preceded by precise illustrations as sample examples. Descriptions of deviations from the norm found, which indicate the great variability of the cerebral function changes caused, follow. The processes presented in the EEG are described and assessed in connection with clinical parameters. Satisfactory interpretations are sometimes not possible, since in many cases physiological and pathophysiological causes of corresponding cerebral changes in function are still unexplained. Thus, the question repeatedly remains open as to whether deviations from the norm are cerebral causes or secondary extracerebral disorders. The atlas is a self-contained overview, but also a supplement to the book published in 1983 by Springer Verlag: I. Pichlmayr, U. Lips, H.
