Die herzkranken Sauglinge haben meinen verehrten Lehrer, Prof. Dr. med. AKE SENNING, Direktor der Chirurgischen Universitatsklinik A, Zurich, seit Jahren ganz besonders beeindruckt. Unermudlich hat er sich mit dem Verlauf des angeborenen Herzfehlers in den ersten Lebensmonaten auseinandergesetzt und in der chirurgischen Behandlung immer neue Techniken entwickelt und verfeinert, urn die Kleinkinder am Leben zu erhalten. Als Mitarbeiter in scinem herzchirurgischen Team ist mir die seltene Gelegenheit geboten, Herzchirurgie meisterhaft vordemonstriert und angeleitet zu bekommen. Nur dank dieser Voraussetzungen ist es mir moglich geworden, mich eingehend mit den Pro- blemen des angeborenen Herzfehlers im Sauglings- und Kleinkindesalter zu beschaItigen. Der vorliegenden Monographie liegt die chirurgische Behand- lung, wie sie in der Klinik von Herro Prof. AKE SENNING fur die herzkranken Sauglinge und Kleinkinder geubt wird, zugrunde.
