Es sind nur sole he Methoden angegeben, die im praktischen Betriebe des Medizinal-Untersuchungsamtes erprobt und ausfiihrbar sind. In einem dem beschrankten Umfange des Buches entsprechend kurzgefaBten Allgemeinen Teil werden die Grundlagen der bak- teriologischen und serologischen Diagnostik besprochen, soweit es zum Verstandnis der in der Praxis zur Anwendung gelangenden Untersuchungsmethoden geboten erschien. Besondere Abschnitte behandeln die Herstellung und Anwendung von FarblOsungen, Fixationsmitteln usw. sowie die Herstellung der Nahrboden. Betreffs der speziellen Nahrbodentechnik sei auf das Buch von KAHLFELD und W AHLICH verwiesen. 1m Speziellen Teil werden die durch bekannte bakterielle Erreger und unbekannte V irusarten hervorgerufenen Infektionen, die Nahrungsmittelvergiftungen usw. umfassend behandelt. Von den serologischen Reaktionen auf Lues, Tuberkulose, Echino- coccus usw. wird nur die Anstellung und Bewertung der Wasser- mannschen Reaktion besprochen, weil der ohnehin zu einem Spezialgebiet gewordene Gegenstand in einem demnachst er- scheinenden Buch von G. BLUMENTHAL, Institut Robert Koch, ausfuhrliche Behandlung erfahrt.
